Archaeology experience at Benares Historic House
June 5 to 16, 2017
In partnership with the Ontario Heritage Trust, the Museums of Mississauga will be excavating on the property of Benares Historic House. This is a unique opportunity to welcome school groups to this Georgian-style estate museum. The two-hour program offers an opportunity for students to learn how to excavate in the field with a team of archaeologists.
Activities include:
- Hands-on experience with professional archeologists
- Grade 8 focus: Creating Canada 1850-90 and Changing Canada 1890-1914
- Tour of the historical house museum and learning digging and screening techniques
