Victorian Fashion Show at Homewood Museum!
Sunday, August 10, 2014 at 1:30 p.m.
Homewood Museum hosts a Victorian Fashion Show on Sunday, August 10 at 1:30 p.m. This stone house was built for Dr. Solomon Jones, the only doctor between Cornwall and Kingston in 1799, and was occupied in by five generations of the Jones family. Nancy MacLeod will host the show. Some adventuresome volunteers from the audience will get a chance to join the show, and step into fashion from the 1860s, while learning about what life was like for women of that era through interpreting their fashion and clothing.
This show complements one of the museums new exhibits, showcasing clothing the Jones family wore. The exhibit features early 19th century breeches, a corset and bustle, a ladies two-piece outfit and delicate dancing slippers.
Admission to the museum is $3 for adults, and $1.50 for children ages 3-16. The show is free with admission.
Homewood is open for tours June 14 to August 31, Wednesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
