Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 7 p.m.
If your ancestors came to Upper Canada (now Ontario) in the late 18th the first half of the 19th centuries, there is a good chance that they received or bought land from the Crown. In this webinar, learn how they did it, what records exist to document it, and how to find these records in the Archives of Ontario’s collections. You’ll be surprised to discover what information may exist, even if your ancestors were unsuccessful in obtaining land from the Crown!
Our presenter, Serge Paquet, is a reference archivist at the Archives of Ontario. Since 1990, his areas of expertise have included vital statistics, land registration, education and architectural records, genealogies collections, church records, and the Archives’ newspaper collection. Paquet’s past presentations to Ontario Ancestors include: personal records from the War of 1812, family history records at the Archives of Ontario, records of the Canada Company, and pre-1869 birth, marriage and death records.
