Victorian medical show at Homewood Museum

Homewood Museum hosts a Victorian medical show on Sunday, July 6 at 1:30 p.m. This stone house was built for Dr. Solomon Jones, the only doctor between Cornwall and Kingston in 1799. Retired nurse, Nancy MacLeod, will give a fun and educational presentation on different Victorian medical procedures and the audience will have a chance to look at Victorian medical equipment up close.
Admission to the museum is $3 for adults, and $1.50 for children ages 3-16. The show is free with admission.
This summer, the museum has several fascinating new exhibits, including one showcasing clothing worn by the Jones family. It features early 19th century breeches, a corset and bustle, a ladies two-piece outfit and delicate dancing slippers.
Homewood is open for tours from Saturday, June 14 to Sunday, August 31 with tours Wednesday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Homewood Museum – a National Historic Site – is owned and operated by the Ontario Heritage Trust, an agency of the Government of Ontario, dedicated to identifying, preserving, protecting and promoting Ontario’s heritage.
