Homewood Museum’s 10th annual Family Day!

Sunday, July 27, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Homewood Museum is hosting its 10th annual Family Day on Sunday, July 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Bring the whole family and experience a “Day in the Life of a Jones,” with activities including: wagon rides, live music, dancing, games and an apple pie eating contest.

Homewood was built in 1799 for Dr. Solomon Jones, the only doctor between Cornwall and Kingston, and was inhabited by the family for five generations.

Admission is $3 for adults, and $1.50 for children ages 3-16 and includes all activities.

This summer, the museum has several fascinating new exhibits, including one showcasing family pastimes. It features homemade Mahjong tiles, a miniature accordion, a quiver of arrows, and a watercolour by Lucia Jones (a family descendant).

Homewood is open for tours from Saturday, June 14 to Sunday, August 31, with tours Wednesday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Homewood Museum – a National Historic Site – is owned and operated by the Ontario Heritage Trust, an agency of the Government of Ontario, dedicated to identifying, preserving, protecting and promoting Ontario’s heritage.
