Celebrate Heritage Week with the Ontario Heritage Trust! On February 17, the Trust is hosting an exciting free kickoff event at the historical Maple Leaf Gardens (now the Mattamy Athletic Centre). This year’s theme is Play. Endure. Inspire. Ontario’s sport heritage. Participants will get to do just that as they celebrate Ontario’s rich sport heritage and get a taste of the upcoming TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games.

This fun-filled day will see children (and adults) experience Ontario’s sport past and future. The Trust, in partnership with TO2015 and KidSport, is proud to present this inclusive event.

Participants will have an opportunity to interact with two inspiring Canadian athletes – Perdita Felicien (retired Olympic hurdler) and Tyler Miller (Paralympics wheelchair basketball champion). CBC News Toronto co-hosts Anne-Marie Mediwake and Dwight Drummond will emcee the day. There will also be other guests joining in for a fun “Ask an Athlete” question and answer session.

There will be a dynamic sport heritage expo featuring exhibits from Ontario’s sport and heritage organizations, such as the Hockey Hall of Fame. There will also be tours available for those interested in learning more about this National Historic Site.

9:30 a.m. – Opening ceremony and remarks
10:30 a.m. – Reception, heritage expo and tours of former Maple Leaf Gardens

Please RSVP by Sunday, February 8, 2015. Capacity is limited.
