Twitter terms of use

The Ontario Heritage Trust’s Twitter account – @ONheritage – is managed by the Trust’s Marketing and Communications Unit. If you choose to follow @ONheritage, you can expect up to 10 tweets per day (including retweets).

We will update and monitor @ONheritage during regular office hours, Monday to Friday, excluding holidays observed in Ontario. Twitter may occasionally be unavailable and during those downtimes, we are not responsible for lack of service.

We expect comments received via Twitter to be relevant to the subject matter of our account. We will read all @replies and direct messages and ensure that relevant communications are passed to appropriate staff at the Trust. We cannot, however, commit to replying individually to all messages received via Twitter.

Please don’t send us your personal information or the personal information of any other individual when communicating with us through Twitter. Any personal information we receive will be treated as a communication by you through the Government of Ontario’s website and will be handled by us in accordance with the Government of Ontario’s Privacy Statement.

If you follow @ONheritage, we will not automatically follow you back. Being followed by @ONheritage does not imply endorsement of any kind.

Twitter.com has rules of conduct that we will follow – and we expect our followers to follow, too – including that your communications will not:

  • falsely claim to represent a person, organization or entity
  • violate or infringe the rights of another person or entity
  • be abusive, hateful, incite hatred, racist, bigoted, sexist, harassing, threatening, inflammatory, indecent, tortuous, defamatory, slanderous, knowingly false, vulgar, obscene, sexually explicit, profane or otherwise objectionable or otherwise in violation of any law, rule or regulation; or
  • contain personal information about a third party

We reserve the right to block a user either temporarily or permanently for any reason, including those outlined above.
