Researching the topic
It’s important to research the subject well so that the information presented publically on the marker is as accurate, comprehensive and objective as possible.
Your local library, museum, gallery, municipal or county records offices, community college or university libraries/archives, and public or company archives – depending on your topic – are all great resources. If you’re not sure how to get started, your local librarians will be able to get you started and point you in the right direction. Basic internet searches on a particular subject may identify sources for research material, but approach those sources with caution. Although there is much information available on websites, it is important to understand that not everything you read is credible. It is best to check with a librarian or subject expert before using any material found online.
